Only 3,365 cats were rescued in 2017; on March 12, 2021 crypto-archaeologists rediscovered it and all remaining 19,000+ cats were rescued within hours. Note: ~100 ETH from the genesis cat is permanently stuck at address(0) due to a contract bug. Users with pending adoption requests must cancel them to reclaim escrowed ETH.
